Best Books-Babies
Reading stories is such an important part of childhood. You're never too young for books! Research shows that regularly reading to babies as young as six months of age leads to stronger vocabularies and better early literacy skills four years later, just as the children are getting ready to go to school!
Here are some of our favourite books best suited for children 0-1 year old. You won’t find any paper pages or tearable flaps in this list! Only titles perfectly suited for the smallest members of the family. Dont forget to click on the pictures to take you to where to buy.

Tummy time
This book folds out like an accordion, so you can stand it up in front of your baby for some extra motivation and distraction during tummy time. The illustrations are a mix of high-contrast black-and-white patterns (perfect for newborns), images of smiling babes and mirrored pages so your baby can gaze at their own reflection and practise those smiles!
Never touch
You must never touch a platypus… except in this book! This animal-themed touch-and-feel book is perfect for babies. My babies loved this one from around 3 months when they started reaching out to feel it during tummy time. It includes funny rhymes that introduces a selection of weird and wacky-looking animals. Each page has a different rubber texture to feel.
Hello Baby
Clever monkey babies, dusty lion babies, sleepy leopard babies - the world is filled with beautiful babies.
But which one is the most treasured baby of all?
A simple, repetitive storyline which introduces the first-time reader to young animals, with the satisfying conclusion of identifying themselves.
Moo, baa, la, la, la!
This raucous story about animals and the sounds they make, including three pigs who say “LA LA LA!” is a read-aloud favourite.
