Christmas Gift Guide-Teachers
Do you buy your children’s teachers, coaches and carers Christmas gifts? As a teacher myself i know how meaningful it is to receive a small gesture at the end of each year thanking me for the effort i put in (not just inside paid school hours but most evenings, weekends and holidays too). But what should you give to the person who looks after your most precious gift?
I hope this guide helps inspire you.

A heart-felt thank you letter
This is my absolute favourite gift to receive! I’m pretty sure every single teacher out there has a box of kept notes from children over the years. I actually display some of them in my office cupboards so when i am marking or planning and i open the cupboards to access my books and resources i see a bunch of little notes blu-taced to the shelves. Its a real reminder that i am not just doing it because it’s my job, i am doing it because it impacts a child’s life! If you have an older child help them draft a letter and if you have a younger one record a video or dictate their words and attach a photo of them on the front. I promise, it will be treasured! It’s free and will teach your child about reflection and gratitude.
Coffee gift card
This is my favourite gift each year! Not just because i love coffee, but because there is also the option to use it for other drinks or food so you don’t have to know the recipient all that well to give something you know will get used! Also a $5 gift card goes a long way so its a very economical option!
Whiteboard markers
These are my second favourite gift! seems random but the amount of their own money teachers spend on these things each year would blow your mind! I love these ones because they are magnetic and stick to my board. The kids love it when i colour code instructions and having 8 colours in 4 pens is really handy!
Breaky on the go cup
This is actually genius!!!! I’m going to buy myself one! Teachers often have early morning clubs or duties which mean we eat at work. This would come in so handy! cereal and milk, yoghurt and fruit, milk and protein powder…. so many ways to use it! Such a unique gift and something that would be used each and every day!
Personalised candle
Ditch the generic candle gifts and give one with a personalised message, nice quote or picture of your child. No link for this one as i encourage you all to shop local for things like candles as there are so many small businesses out there! If you want some recommendations for Perth small businesses hit me up on Instagram.
Make it a funny mug
I know lots of teachers who do not love receiving coffee cups as gifts (super popular gift idea). I personally love it as i go through at least 6 mugs per school day and leave them all over the school. My students know this about me so they always buy me mugs which i love! My faves are always the funny ones!
Whole class gift
If your child is in early learning the chances are you’re friendly with at least some of the other mums. One pooled gift can be a lot more special compared with lots of smaller ones. I’ve gotten some beautiful things in the past such as Myer gift cards, Hotel stays and jewellery.
Punny Stickers
Teachers are dorks… we love a good pun. In fact, i actually have a whole bulletin board in my classroom dedicated to puns and memes! Another thing about teacher is we spend a lot of our own money on stickers every year. I teach in the High School but my students still constantly ask for a sticker. These pun inspired ones are just too cute!
