Best Books- New sibling

Having a second child can often be much more emotional than the first time around. Worries about how eldest children will cope with the new arrival is normal. Worrying that you couldn’t possibly love a second child as much as you love your first is also normal (but i can promise you that you will). For us we found books a beautiful way of teaching Maisie about what was happening inside my tummy and what changes would be soon to come. Having a newborn in the house is'n’t all fun and games and sometimes siblings are disappointed when their babies aren’t magically born with the ability to run and jump and play with them. Ive listed below the books we found most helpful. Each explores a different aspect of the journey and is a great way to teach your first little love what to expect in the coming months.

Waiting for Baby

When you're small, waiting for anything can seem to take a lifetime, especially when it's a baby! There is so much to sort out for the new arrival - clothes, toys and a place to sleep. A new addition to any family is exciting, but the experience can also be worrying and confusing for siblings. Coping with the new situations and emotions that arise can be very challenging. This series deals with the anticipation of waiting for the new baby, the excitement of the arrival itself, and the beginnings of the special relationship that develops between siblings. The simple conversational text and lively illustrations are carefully designed to encourage further dialogue between reader and child
